Seniors Open 2011
It’s 7:30 Thursday the 1st of September and the seniors open begins. First on the tee is Royce Reynolds, Ron McCarthy and Bill Dark. It’s a beautiful day for a change and the Open begins. There are 169 entrants so it’s going to be a long day. The final tee off was at 14:26. The weather stayed fine all day but got a little windy in the afternoon. The final team got back to the club house at around 18:45. As I said a long day. As usual the ladies provided a perfect halfway house right until the end. After the days played had ended and people had had their meals the final teams met the early teams still keeping the bar open. The raffle prizes had been drawn so a frenzied checking of tickets. None for me again. On to the prize giving. The Seniors Captain (John Swift) made a short speech thanking everyone for their help in organising the day. Special thanks went to Bill Dark for his usual efforts in organising most things. Also a special thanks to the Ladies and catering staff for all their hard work.
Mike Key (deputy Captain) then took over the announcements of winners wiliest the Captain did the honours of handing out the winning prizes. There where 5 prizes in each age category. (and very nice they were)
